Disaster Cost Recovery Assistance for Local Government
Noteworthy Projects:
A Local Emergency
The City of Millbrae experienced a massive and dangerous landslide on private land that damaged a public sewer line, destroyed one home and threatened ten others. KCG provided comprehensive disaster consulting services and helped the City acquire $9 million dollars in public assistance funding from the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, State of California.
A Hazard Mitigation Project
The severe El Nino storms of 1998 caused extensive landslides in San Mateo County. KCG prepared and managed a FEMA grant for the purchase of private land and homes damaged or threatened by the landslides. The homes were demolished and the land was dedicated as permanent open space to reduce the potential for future damage and loss of life.
A Federal Disaster
KCG provided comprehensive consulting services to the City of Pacifica to obtain $8 Million dollars in funding from OES, FEMA and HUD for the damage caused by five major disasters. In particular, KCG assisted the City with the management of 67 sites damaged by the El Nino storms and obtained full funding to repair the damage facilities.
